In this graphic novel, this is a story of Geronimo the mouse, has to save the future from the pirate cats. This story goes back in time to the trans-continental railroad and Geronimo and friends must save the railroad from being blown up.
Honestly, I was not crazy about this book at all. It is part of a series, so I was unfamiliar with the characters. I found it to be very confusing and jumping around a lot. The illustrations are great, but there is A LOT going on in this book. I like that it had some history and explained things like the trans-continental railroad to readers. However, I was confused as can be reading it and really had a difficult time focusing. I think it is a book better suited for a child who is familiar with this series and is also interested in trains and history. I give this book 2 stars.
I read Geronimo Stilton books until maybe age 13. I just thought they were so amazing, with their humor, adventure, mystery, and wit. This books I would agree are more suitable for kids, but if you know the characters and some of the previous stories in the series it is definitely a better read. I'm glad you gave it a try regardless.
ReplyDeleteMy sons went through a phase where they enjoyed reading these. I was not super crazy about them as a reader myself. I did not like all the change in size and color of the font. However, I know that they are appealing to readers transitioning into chapter books.
